.S&L Plastics - History
1946 Company founded west of Nazareth as H & R Plastics by Jack Hauck and Elton Roeder. Started with one profile extruder. Early jobs included blanks for 45 records, battery components and towel bars. Roeder family also produced pinking shears in tool shop.
1950 Introduced Injection Molding. Early jobs included safety helmets and harnesses, soldering gun boxes, spice can caps
1956 Introduced sheet extrusion. Early jobs included loose leaf binders, file folders, and cap lining material.
1963 Purchased by GL Industries
1968 GL Industries becomes SL Industries and H & R Plastics becomes SGL Plastics division
1970 SGL Industries went public as SL Industries and SGL Plastics becomes SL Plastics
1988 SL Industries merged SL Ameritech into SL Plastics. 6 Injection molding presses moved to Nazareth. Dynagro line of apothecary jars and cubes came with business. Custom products included Dansk tableware and artificial Christmas tree brackets.
1988 SL Plastics acquired tooling and customer base for Westcliif towel bar line.
1990 SL Plastics was purchased by DVH becoming S & L Plastics, Inc. (S &L)
1993 S & L Purchased measurex line from Margon, I injection press and many scoop tools moved in house. Expanded outside warehousing.
1996 S & L purchased Beta Polymer, 4 profile extruders running PVC in Indianapolis, IN.
1997 S & L purchased DSM/Polymer Corporation's thin walled tubing and profile products, Includes 7 profile extruders running engineering grade profiles, nylatron wear strips and nylaflow tubing lines. Re-established outside warehouse
1998 Collapsed DVH and DVP became a division of S & L
1998 Relocated Beta Polymers from Indianapolis to Nazareth, 5 profile extruders and expands to second outside warehouse.
1998 Installed 6" sheet line and die cutter to run floor mats for Lear Corporation
2000 Received approval to sell PP hinged boxes as stock items (carry cases)
2000 S & L Obtained QS-9000/ISO 9002. Building expands to 190,000 sq. ft.
2001 Closed outside warehouses and brought products in to new building.
